Overall supervision
Job purpose:
This is one of the highest positions
of the company. The General Manager is responsible for the overall decision
making in all the departments of the company. Since this position is one of the
highest positions in the organization, he has the responsibility of motivating
and overseeing the company’s departmental performance including its employees.
Moreover, he has all the authority in terms of decision making in departmental
performance, operations, and other issues related to the company including
expenses in consultation with the directors.

Principal
accountabilities/ Key Result Areas:
1.
Ensure
sound policies are placed to ensure that professionalism prevails in all the
company operations. This should steer the company towards its vision.
2.
Ensure
efficiency and cost effectiveness in all the company operations.
3.
Ensure
good public relations with the government departments (including but not
limited to Kenya Revenue Authority), prospective clients, clients, and other industry
stake holders.
4.
Ensure
accurate and constant communication to the clients and other sub-contractors is
an ongoing trend. E.g. Transporters.
5.
Put
policies in place to ensure positive growth of the organization. This should
include viable marketing strategies to enlarge the clients’ base.
6.
Ensure
that all prerequisite licenses are applied for and obtained on time.
7.
Ensure
that all employees are allocated duties to their capabilities as well as
ensuring that they are constantly trained and assessed for improvement.
Qualifications and other
requirements:
1.
Must
be 36 years and above in age
2.
Must
have over 6 years experience in the same capacity in an established Clearing
and Forwarding company.
3.
Holder
of a degree in Business Management or related field
4.
A
Diploma in Clearing & Forwarding course, or any other related course from a
recognized institution would be an add on.
5.
Must
have knowledge in accounting.
6.
Must
demonstrate the ability to maintain good working relationships with all the
stake holders in the field.
7.
Must
be flexible in work habits and schedules
8.
Must
be well conversant with port operations procedures with established
relationship with all stake holders of the clearing and forwarding
